ROSIE ROBINSON

I was inspired while in Margate on my gap year in South Africa.
I am a poet of 20 years of age, and I am at Durham University studying theology. I first started to write poetry when
I was about 14, I also write songs and read.

 Deceiving Sea

This great and luminous light, that plays and meddles with refraction

Lights up the water most beautifully, or at least- to my satisfaction

The faint intangible line that blurs with the light and sea

Looks so calm and yet so deadly if one could only just be

Not in numbers of lives lost but deadly is its decadent charm

The sweet, faint tinny music that will sooth and give a sickly calm

Will dawn on your unsuspecting mind like a predator with its prey

And your body will want to stay rooted for yet another day
