GHOST

i once took a spoon
and put it through a ghost
it tasted of honey
with the feeling of a kingfishers wing
on the side of my temple

Amnesia

I seen a shoebox attached to a parachute
It landed in a nearby field
I climbed over the stile and crossed the field
The parachute lay on the grass like a busted chrysanthemum
Underneath-lay the shoebox
I opened it hesitantly
Inside was a photograph of my house with me looking up into the sky
Perturbed
I took it to my local police station
I handed it to the sergeant he then entered a small room
I heard them laughing
An air pilot took the box and turned to the sergeant
“Same time next week?”
“Aye” replied the sergeant in a gruff voice.

Etc.

I keep spent light bulbs
In a cardboard box labelled “HOPE”
It’s just the way I am
I’ve seen a doctor about it
I’ve got loads of surveillance footage of him coming out of restaurants
I keep the videotapes in a cardboard box labelled “HOPE”

TRUE STORY

There was this guy
who swallowed the moon while he was asleep
he woke up and carried on his day
when he tried to talk
small white balloons came out of his mouth,
when he laughed - an invisible fork would hover
and puncture the balloons
his words lay on the roadside
like discarded bread for the birds to feed from
i heard that a seagull stole his whisper
and would use it to seduce fish.
