Swimming Lessons
The pool water
was green from
Algae
It was shocked
PH checked
and algaecide
was added
but it was still green
The hour lesson
was just enough time
to sit
bite the skin off my thumb
and ponder
another poem
The in-laws were
shuffling about
talking about bee stings
and wine
Their Jack Russell
was busy chewing on a wiffle ball
and my shoe laces
The kids seemed to enjoy
paddling with the kickboard
and diving for golf balls
I enjoyed gnawing on
my appendage
deep in thought
Once the lesson was over
I packed up the kids
and went back
to put my idle thoughts
In a word doc.
