Jose Carlos Sarmento, was born in Ovar, a small town in the North  of Portugal, in 1945. Currently, he lives 
in Porto and works in Penafiel. He is a Paediatrician and  loves to work with Children. Photography, painting 
and music are his favourite hobbies. Jose says:” Painting is a real Passion. I discovered painting early when 
I was yet a child. I always keep with me the memory of my two favourites Painters, Vieira da Silva and Paula 
Rego. But now I’m looking for the Renaissance and there are those Painters that make influence in my work. 
To paint is part of my soul. I have made some exhibitions and I have my works in National and International 
collections.”
